Seeking safe and effective outdoor mosquito solutions |
| |
Seeking safe and effective outdoor mosquito solutions to help consumers enjoy their yard and outdoor spaces without the annoyance and inconvenience of mosquito bites. Mosquitos are a common nuisance and disease spreading insect. In addition to being vectors of disease, one of the main reasons we want to tackle this pest is to allow people to enjoy outdoor activities more frequently – e.g., eating outside, spending time with family, and watching outdoor sporting events. Here in P&G Ventures, we are looking for existing, in market solutions which exist globally that are specifically designed to kill or repel mosquitos. |
Seeking natural colors for foods and beverages |
| |
PepsiCo is evaluating different natural color ingredients and technologies to replace Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red #40, and Blue #1 for multiple food and beverage brands in order to address consumer demand. Specific challenges are in the Red #40 (food) and Blue #1 (food & beverage) replacers. |
Seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. |
| |
PepsiCo is committed to reducing GHG emissions from seed to shelf. We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet |
Dynamic Pupil for ophthalmological applications |
| |
Researchers from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) have recently developed a self‐‐regulating iris based on light‐‐actuated broadband absorber metamaterial. Manufacturing companies of contact lenses and/or ocular prosthesis are being sought to collaborate and/or exploit the existing know how through a patent license agreement. |
Paper-based temperature sensor with high sensitivity |
| |
The CSIC has developed a thermo-resistive sensor comprising a semiconductor material onto a paper substrate. The use of this type of materials together with deposition technique of semiconductor element allow to design a thermo-resistive sensor with high sensitivity to abrupt temperature changes being up to an order of magnitude more sensitive than analogous sensors based on graphite. The use of paper as substrate makes this sensor cheap, easy to produce and biodegradable. The incorporation of this device in fabrics allows to monitor body temperature. Likewise, when integrated in packaging, it allows to record thermal history of goods. Industrial partners from the electronic components and sensors sectors or companies from textile and paper industry are being sought to collaborate through a patent license agreement. |
Super Porous Adsorbent of Heavy metals for Water Purification |
| |
ICN2 researchers developed an innovative super porous adsorbent with enhanced removal capacity toward heavy metal water contaminants. The material is fabricated by spray-drying and formulated into granules, and can be suitable for cartridges for domestic water purification applications. Moreover it can be regenerated by mild treatment. |
